In 1988 I was born in Chile as Luis Alfonso, grew up as Koto and I remember myself as an active, expressive and curious kid. I didn’t graduate from two years of Psychology, although I did as a bachelor’s degree in Social Communications in Chile and as Master in Creative Advertising in Italy. I didn’t know I would be an eternal student.
Currently finishing up the second year of the Master of Arts in Creative Sustainability in Aalto University, my thesis concerns waste defamiliarization within the spectrum of material and also immaterial waste. Precisely, I’m nowadays also shaping ReSources Finland and ReSources Zanzibar, where the overall research is focused on hidden waste, danger and beauty and then in waste as an accumulator in aging chains, respectively. I’m also studying swahili for some reason.
Take the concept of waste to different approaches that could complement our current theory and practices, find value within the ordinary in a massive level. Maybe even infuse sustainability in everything I touch and why not succeed being a better, active and curious kid, in adult version. By then I picture a table with a handful of languages of every color right when the soup is served, because that day we are serving soup.
